The History witnesses that Varna is a key place for the meeting of various civilisations and cultures. There are various history samples and the objects of the cultural heritage are forming the main part of the atmosphere in the central part of the city.
The extremely bad condition of the material substance of the cultural heritage in Varna is a proof how necessary is to update the database, to inform the community about the problems and the potential of the heritage in order to activate processes, aiming to adapt the policy of the preservation in compliance with the specific circumstances and needs of the city.
The existent information about the cultural heritage objects in the administrative area of Varna is a list, made in the 80s of the previous century, reprocessed many times after. It’s current status is seriously compromised because of the differences found in the information in the regional institutes – Municipality, Regional Administration, Registry service, Tax service, National Institute of Immovable Cultural Heritage – Sofia.
Moreover, the list contains factual mistakes, outdated information /addresses before 1989/ and already demolished buildings that have had a status of Immovable Cultural Heritage.
For the first time In 2014, the Municipality of Varna, begins the initiative for updating the existing information about the Cultural Heritage on the administrative territory of the city, declaring an open competition for “Identification/ Updating and Proposal for declaring the immovable cultural heritage on the territory of Varna.
After a participation in the competition, the team of “STUDIO RACHEVI” had the honour to implement such vast and complex initiative for preservation of the cultural heritage for the first time in the country.
The amount and the content of the submitted project as well as the methodology of the working process, correspond to Regulation №12 from 21.11.2012. for the order of declaration, identification, status decree, and assigning the category of the immovable cultural heritage, for the аaccess and the registration of the circumstances in the National Registry of the Cultural Heritage.
The whole documentation was submitted on 09.03.2015. to the Ministry of the Culture /Physical carrier, digital format, with a capacity of about 43GB/.

The task aims to create a full and exhaustive database, systematised and optimised for the work of the institutions, specialists and explorers of immovable cultural heritage.
The update of the list is an appropriate base for a following scientific developments, as well as developments in the sphere of the cultural tourism. It should ensure a favourable environment for the invasion of an alternative sources for financing the preservation of the Cultural heritage, such as regional and euro-programs.
Six months after submitting the project, on 21.07.2015. The Municipality of Varna, received a positive standpoint with and exit number .№ 0401-238/17.07.2015г. – NIICH. It says that the activities for the Actualisation and Identification are done according to Regulation № 12 from the 21st of November 2012, and NIICH accepts the documentation, submitted from “Studio Rachevi“ in it’s full form.
